Samsung UN46C7000 Review

Strengths

  • Razor Thin – 1.2" depth panel with 1" surrounding bezel. Super looks.
  • Swivel quadrapod stand
  • Depth of black levels – Avg. to good contrast.
  • Intense Color Saturation
  • Optional 240/120Hz feature for sports programming
  • Excellent input options for a super thin
  • 3-D TV compatible for future programming

Weaknesses

  • Proprietary Wifi Internet TV Network is, well, proprietary
  • 240Hz feature with Film based content (turn off feature for most programming)
  • Price on expensive side
  • Difficult ISF calibration (follow our settings and not an issue)
  • At times over saturation of color information
  • Weak Volume/Audio output
  • Blue tone inconsistency across gray scales

At around $2300 this the 46C7000 is on the pricey upper end of the 46" options scale – justified somewhat by the scaled up features set. There are few plasma options in this size category so LCD is it. Competition hails from the picture quality focused Sony XBR-46HX900, the local dimming 240Hz/480Hz LG 47LE8500, and the super thin Sharp 46LE820UN. 3D compatibility is a feature present in this model that commands attention and will likely be highly desirable for the early adapter set. But it would not surprise me to see the price on this TV drop later in 2010.
