Spring/Summer 2010

This shot from the 480i version of The Blade Runner shows excellent dark shadow detail in the hazy, smoke filled detectives room.
The Sony KDL-60EX700 has its own private display in some prominent retail stores such as Best Buy. It's got the thin good looks Sony is counting on to impress with its great brightness on the showroom floor. In this review we delve deeply into the inner beauty of the TV as well to evaluate whether the internal processing and output match the aesthetics. The EX700 series ranks right in the middle of the pack in Sony's 2010 lineup in terms of feature offerings and price.

Sony has introduced the KDL-60EX700 as a good value proposition with lots of the most updated features that matter such as 120 Hz Motionflow, the new Bravia 3 engine (which did not test that well) and sleek good looks in just over 2" in depth. There were plenty of weaknesses that were uncovered during testing as well. At $2699 - $2999 the price point on the KDL-60EX700 is an average value proposition when considering all the competition such as the Competition hails from the Samsung UN60C6500, the LG 60LE5400, the Sharp LC-60LE810UN, and let's not forget a couple of plasma TVs as well like the Panasonic VIERA TC-P58VT25 and the Samsung PN58C7000, which yields excellent value while sacrificing a couple of inches.

SONY KDL-60EX700 Features Overview
The EX700 series contains the Bravia Engine 3, Bravia Sync technology, LED edge lighting, USB ports for photo, music, and video playback. It will also have an ambient sensor technoloy which allows for picture contrast dimming or brightening depending upon room light conditions. The LCD TVs in this series have edge lit LED backlighting for long life and improved blacks. The EX700 series features Sony's Motion Flow 120Hz refresh rate, in past reviews Sony has seemed to have a better handle on this feature than many other manufacturers. This unit promises some of Sony's best value for an LED backlit TV. It will not contain the new monolithic design present on some of the more premium models. The EX700 series does features internet access and Sony's Bravia Internet Video.
