Continuing from the XBR5 series LCD the KDL-52XBR6 utilizes Sony's excellent PRC-MFv2.5 processor to create a high density video signal that most processors cannot match. And taking a piece of technology from the XBR4 series Sony will continue with its new 10 processing combined with the 10 bit LCD display panel. This technology enables 64 times more levels of color than 8 bit processing. What does this accomplish? It allows for more hues and color subtleties for smoother transitions all of which gives the viewer a more pleasant and realistic viewing experience. Of course, the resolution of this display will continue at 1920 X 1024 (1080p). There are many aesthetic upgrades including the optional colored speaker grill (remind me: why would someone want an optional color speaker grill?). There are other requisite improvements as well but none more important than the 120Hz refresh rate to help rid the KDL52XBR6 of annoying motion lag and ghosting issues which can be present with 60Hz processing.
