Samsung has annouced the Luxia UNB8000 series as it's top of the line LCD series for 2009. The UN55B8000 features a slim bezel that's about an inch deep and LED backlighting. To achieve the ultra-thin depth, Samsung is using an edge-lit LED backlighting system which gives us the slim cabinet but precludes the TV from offering local dimming.
The major feature that the Samsung LED UN55B8000 is offering over the B7000 series is a 240Hz refresh rate and more advanced dejudder processing. We can't say that we were very impressed with 120Hz refresh rates and were more often than not willing to put up with motion blue rather than the loss of picture depth that 120Hz gave us. We are anxious to get our hands on the UN55B8000 and see if the new processor can get rid of blur and judder without the over-processed look.
